Kiwanis Bingo: Bringing Joy & Connection to Seward’s Senior Residents
At Kiwanis, we believe in fostering community, connection, and mental stimulation. That’s why we’re proud to organize and lead weekly bingo sessions at two local assisted living residences in Seward. Our bingo events are more than just a game—they’re a chance for seniors to socialize, have fun, and keep their minds engaged in a lively, interactive setting.
Fun, Engaging, and Social Events for Senior Residents
Bingo is a beloved event at Kinship Pointe, a senior living community where we’ve been providing entertainment since 2017. Each Monday afternoon at 2:30, 25-50 residents gather for an afternoon of bingo, laughter, and friendly competition. The activity director is on hand to take roll and record the winners, while Kiwanis volunteers serve as callers and assist residents who may need help reading or hearing the numbers. Prizes for the winners are generously provided by the facility.
Expanding to Greene Place
In 2022, the director of Greene Place joined the Kiwanis Club and requested that we bring our bingo program to their community. Now, every Wednesday and Friday at 3:00 PM, a smaller group of 2-12 players enjoy the same lively bingo games, with Kiwanis members leading the fun and ensuring all players are included.
The Kiwanis Tradition
The leadership of Kiwanis Bingo has evolved over the years, beginning with Gene Brott, who started and managed the program in 2017. In 2020, Jack Swanson took the reins, continuing to lead with dedication until 2024. Today, Bob Dahms and Tim Rippstein have stepped into the leadership roles, continuing the tradition of volunteer service and ensuring that the bingo program remains a bright spot in the lives of Seward’s senior residents.
